Courtney Taylor Selected Seventh Overall In Athletes Unlimited Draft

PHILADELPHIA – Former Temple lacrosse defender Courtney Taylor has been selected seventh overall in the Athletes Unlimited Professional women's lacrosse draft. Taylor played four years at Temple from 2018 to 2021. After graduating from Temple in 2021 with a degree in Supply Change Management, the Chalfont, Pa. native graduate transferred to Boston College where she played the 2022 season.
Taylor had one of the most decorated careers in recent Owls' lacrosse history she was named 2021 IWCLA Third Team All-America, 2021 Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Honorable Mention, 2021 American Athletic Conference First Team, 2021 Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Honorable Mention, and 2019 American Athletic Conference Second Team. She was voted a team captain for the 2021 squad which advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1998. Taylor ranks third all-time in career-caused turnovers (85) and seventh all-time in ground balls (139).
A total of 15 players were selected in the Athletes Unlimited draft. Athletes Unlimited is in its second year of sponsoring women's lacrosse. Athletes Unlimited was founded in 2020 and sponsors professional leagues for female athletes in four sports: basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and softball. Athletes Unlimited is unique in that players themselves compete for an individual title. Last season, Taylor Cummings claimed first place. The league will open the 2022 campaign on 7/21 at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
