PHILADELPHIA – Temple University Athletics announced today promotions within the athletic training department. Kevin Addison now becomes the Director of Athletic Training and Zachary White is the Head Athletic Trainer for Football.

"It is such a privilege to promote Kevin and Zac," said Jessica Reo, Temple's Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director. "Both have served Temple University and our student-athletes well in their time here. When we opened up the search for these open positions, the candidate pool was very strong, but it was clear that we had fantastic candidates ready to be promoted into these roles."

Addison has held the title of Associate Director of Athletic Training at Temple since November 2017.  As such, he oversaw a staff of nine who supported 18 of Temple Athletics' 19 varsity sports.  Addison will now add football to his Temple portfolio in addition to its four full-time athletic trainers.

"I want to thank [Temple Vice President/Director of Athletics] Arthur Johnson and Jessica Reo for their faith in trusting me with this promotion,' said Addison. "I take pride as an athletic trainer in protecting the health and safety of Temple's student-athletes. I've worked football before so I know the demands of that sport and I look forward to working with Zac and his staff."

Prior to his time at Temple, Addison spent the previous seven years as the head athletic trainer at Hampton University. There he was responsible for the care and prevention of injuries, primarily for the football and men's basketball programs, while also overseeing the assistant athletic training staff. He also developed and implemented a policy and procedures manual for the Sports Medicine department.

Prior to his position at Hampton, Addison served two years (2008-10) as the head athletic trainer at Birmingham Southern College. Before that, he was the head athletic trainer at Coker College in Huntsville, S.C., from 2007-08. He also interned in the summer with two NFL franchises, the Indianapolis Colts (2004) and the Atlanta Falcons (2005 & 2006).

Addison earned his master's degree in sports management from George Washington University ('07) with his bachelor's degree in athletic training coming from the University of South Carolina ('04).

A native of Blythewood, S.C., Addison is a member of both the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Southeastern Athletic Trainers Association.

White worked four seasons with Temple Football alongside former head athletic trainer Al Bellamy, who is now with the Washington Commanders.

"I need to thank Al Bellamy for his mentorship and guidance," said White. "I also need to thank Arthur Johnson, Jessica Reo, and [Temple football head coach] Stan Drayton for this opportunity. I've chosen the field of athletic training because it's always been my nature to take care of others. I've learned how to do that working alongside many men and women who not only share that same passion, but also cared enough about me to make me a better athletic trainer. I'm thankful to all of them."

White originally served as an athletic training fellow for the Owls from 2016-18 and was hired as a full-time assistant athletic trainer for football in March 2020. Prior to joining the Temple sports medicine staff, where he also worked with the golf team, White spent the 2018-19 seasons at Syracuse serving as an athletic training assistant.

White's other football experiences also includes an athletic training internship at Morgan State (2015-16), a graduate assistantship at East Carolina (2013-15), and multiple summer internships in the NFL.

In addition to each school's football program, White also worked with the men's basketball teams at East Carolina and Morgan State. While at East Carolina, White also served as the head athletic trainer at North Pitt High School.

White received his bachelor's degree in athletic training from East Carolina in 2013. He also holds a master's degree in teaching with a concentration in health education from the school. In the fall of 2018, White received his doctorate of athletic training from Temple, where he also attained a certificate of teaching in higher education.

White is a member of several professional organizations, including the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). An NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), White is also a level 1 Fascial Stretch Therapist (FST).
