NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Temple lacrosse posted another outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year. The program earned recognition from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association as a Division I Academic Honor Squad. In addition to the team honor, 12 Owls were named to the Division I Academic Honor Roll.
The IWLCA has named 326 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Academic Honor Squads for the 2021-22 academic year. To qualify for this honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Owls soared past this marker, earning a 3.58 GPA for the 2021-22 year. This year, Temple also placed 12 on the 2022 IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. This is only the most recent academic honor for the Cherry and White. Lacrosse had 24 of its 28 student-athletes earn AAC All-Academic Team Honors in July, and senior Lauren Zinkl was one of three Owls who won Female Student-Athlete of the Year at the 2022 Stella Awards following an exceptional academic career. Zinkl was also named Academic All-Area by the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association.
