7.8.22 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA — Temple women's soccer announced its 2022 schedule and will welcome new opponent as Gonzaga will travel to the Temple Sports Complex for its first-ever meeting with the Owls on Sept. 25.
The Zags, which won 15 matches in 2021, are one of three non-conference home matches for the Cherry and White with Maryland, which opens the Owls' home slate on Aug. 18 and LIU (Aug. 30) also traveling to Philadelphia.
"We are excited about the season and what the 2022 schedule has to offer," said Temple head coach Nick Bochette. "Starting a series with Gonzaga and continuing to play Big 10 foes Maryland and Rutgers gives strength to our schedule and truly helps prepare our team for the high-level of competition that we face in the American Athletic Conference. I am confident that our young women are ready for the challenge."
The season starts off with exhibition matches against Saint Joseph's (Aug. 8) and at Lehigh (Aug. 13) before opening regular season play with at home against Maryland. The Owls then head on the road for matches with Binghamton (Aug. 21) and Penn (Aug. 26) before closing out the first month with LIU at the Temple Sports Complex.
Temple takes to the road again in September for its longest stretch away from home – a four-game slate that features contests against Rutgers (Sept. 1), Rider (Sept. 3), Drexel (Sept. 8) and its AAC opener Tulsa (Sept. 15).
A three-game homestand is next with 2021 NCAA Tournament participant SMU (Sept. 22), Gonzaga and UCF (Oct. 6) providing the competition at the Temple Sports Complex.
This is the last extended stretch of home or away contests as the Owls close out the 2022 regular season with three road matches (Cincinnati, 10/9; USF, 10/20; Houston, 10/27) sandwiching two home games (Memphis, 10/16; ECU 10/23).
