Emily Kavanagh Named Preseason All-Conference

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer forward Emily Kavanaugh was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team, as voted on by the league coaches on Tuesday afternoon.
Kavanaugh is looking to build on a stellar 2021 season, where she netted seven goals and one assist for a team high of 15 points. Her seven-goal performance ranked her fourth in the American Athletic Conference in both goals and goals per game, while she tied for sixth in the conference in points per game. At the conclusion of the 2021 season, Kavanaugh was named First Team All-Conference for her outstanding efforts, in addition to being named AAC Offensive Player of the Week once (9/27).
Memphis secured the first-place spot in the conference standings, receiving 62 points, which included six of nine first place votes from the league coaches. South Florida (52) was tabbed as the runner-up, followed by a tie between UCF (48) and SMU (48) for third place. Cincinnati (33) and Houston (33) tied for fifth, followed by Temple (20), East Carolina (19) and Tulsa (10) to round out the preseason standings.
The Owls will open their season on Thursday, Aug. 18 against Maryland. Attendance to the Temple Sports Complex is free to all fans. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
