Owls in the NFL - Week 2

PHILADELPHIA - Week two in the NFL consisted of some close games between former Owls' teammates, as well as some dominating Monday night performances.
 
It was an electric Monday night for former Temple Owls' Dion Dawkins (2013-16) and Tyler Matakevich (2012-15) of the Buffalo Bills, as well as Haason Reddick (2012-16) and Shaun Bradley (2016-19) of the Philadelphia Eagles. Dawkins helped lead the Bills offense to a dominating 41-7 win over the Tennessee Titans as they accrued over 30 minutes of possession and gained over 400 yards for the second week in a row. Tyler Matakevich (2012-15) continued to see action on special teams. In their return to Lincoln Financial Field, Reddick recorded two tackles and one pass defended, while Bradley also continued to see action on special teams. The Eagles would win 24-7.
 
On Sunday, Chris Myarick (2015-19) and his New York Giants won another close one, 19-16 against some of his former teammates on the Carolina Panthers. Carolina's Matt Rhule (2013-16) and his group of former Owls - Robbie Anderson (2011-13, 2015), Matt Ioannidis (2012-15), Sam Franklin (2016-19) Sean Chandler (2014-17), and P.J. Walker (2013-16) made the trip north to New York. Ioannidis was able to reel in two tackles and his first sack with the Panthers.
 
Michael Dogbe (2014-18) and the Arizona Cardinals were able to walk away with a win this week against the Las Vegas Raiders and former teammate, Rock Ya-Sin (2018), in a 29-23 overtime showdown. Dogbe did not record any defensive statistics. Ya-Sin recorded one tackle and a career-high three passes defended.
 
Jacob Martin (2014-17) and Kenny Yeboah (2016-19) led their New York Jets into Cleveland and came out with a 31-30 victory over the Browns. Martin was able to contribute to this massive win with two tackles and Yeboah made his season debut.
 
Brandon McManus (2009-12) and the Denver Broncos bounced back week 2 with a 16-9 victory over the Houston Texans. McManus scored 10 points (3 FGs and one PAT), including one 50-yd field goal in their win.
 
Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20), Matt Hennesy (2016-19), and their Atlanta Falcons lost a very close game, 31-27 to the reigning Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams. Ebiketie was able to collect a career-high four tackles.
 
Offensive lineman Michael Niese (2020-21) and cornerback Harrison Hand (2017-19) have been added to the Chicago Bears practice squad.
