> The Invitational is named after legendary University of Minnesota coach Roy Griak, who passed away in 2015 following 51 years of service to the University. Griak served as the head coach of the Minnesota men's cross country team from 1963-1996 and led the Gophers to three Big Ten titles (two cross country, one track & field).
Quotable: Assistant Coach Collin Zeffer
"The Roy Griak Invitational is one of the premier meets at this time of year. I think our squad has had an exceptional start to the season in both training and competing so far, but this meet will be our first opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best teams in the country - particularly in the Great Lakes and Midwest regions. The team and I are excited to see how we stack up and just how well the training has gone the last few weeks!"
