Volleyball Falls at Wichita State in AAC Opener

WICHITA, KANSAS – The Temple Owls volleyball team dropped the opening match of the AAC conference schedule on Friday night with a three-set (13-25, 21-25, 15-25) loss to the Wichita State at the Charles Koch Arena.
The Owls fall to 6-6 overall and 0-1 in AAC play, while Wichita State improves to 6-6 overall and 1-0 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wichita State hit .307 in the match compared to Temple's .000
- The Owls had 107 total attempts with 29 errors to the Shockers 88 attempts on just nine errors.
- Brylee Kelly led the WSU attack with nine kills, while three of her teammates had five or more kills.
- The Owls had two players with five or more kills, including a match-high 10 from junior Jelena Prolic and sophomore Taylor Davenport's seven.
Set 1 (Wichita State 25, Temple 13)
- The Owls got out to a 6-4 lead in the first set as they got kills from Prolic, Davenport, and Chudear Tut. Davenport and Samantha Jo Mikosky recorded individual blocks to start the match.
- Later in the set, Wichita State scored nine straight points to take a 18-8 lead. Natalie Foster was vital during that run as she had three kills and one block.
- The Shockers closed out the set, winning 25-13, taking six of the last nine points with the help of Morgan Stout's pair of kills and one block.
Set 2 (Wichita State 25, Temple 21)
- Temple built a sizable lead to start the second set, leading by six points, 12-6. Prolic had three kills to help the Owls in that rally.
- The Cherry and White continued to hold the advantage by the score of 19-14, but the Shockers won 11 of the last 13 points, forcing Temple into four attack errors, winning the set, 25-21.
Set 3 (Wichita State 25, Temple 15)
- There were a pair of ties in set three, but WSU was in control throughout. The Shockers reeled off four unanswered points on three separate occasions to win 25-15.
- Prolic led TU with four kills in the set, while Brylee Kelly anchored Wichita State with a set-high six kills on a .857 hitting percentage.
- As a team, the Shockers had a match-best .348 hitting percentage in the set win.
