PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's rowing coach Rebecca Grzybowski announced her leadership group for the 2022-23 season.

For the second straight year, the Owls will be led by one captain, Maddie Hillis.  The senior from Orlando, Fla. helped lead Temple to a bronze medal at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championship in the second varsity eight.

Joining Hillis on this year's leadership group are Emma Berry, Aine Playdon, Riley Gorman, Giselle Kiriacos and Gemma Wollenschlaeger.  Berry & Kiriacos are back for a second year in a team leadership role, while Playdon, Gorman & Wollenschlaeger are in their first year as team leaders.

"With Maddie, Emma and Giselle returning to the Leadership Group and Aine, Riley and Gemma coming in, we have the perfect blend of experience and new energy," said Gryzbowski. "These six women have the highest of standards for themselves and for their teammates, and they live our team values on a daily basis.  I can't wait to see how they step into the leadership role and make it their own as we chase big goals and conference championships."

Temple's scrimmage against Rutgers on Saturday has been canceled.  The team will open the fall portion of its schedule on Oct. 16 at the Navy Day Regatta.
