Grades In: Temple Student-Athletes Continue to Excel in 2022 Fall Semester

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University student-athletes excelled in the classroom in the Fall 2022 semester, combining for a 3.28 cumulative grade point average. It is the highest non-covid related fall semester GPA on record for Temple's 19 varsity athletics teams, and it is 0.12 greater that the Fall 2021 cumulative grade point average (3.16).
This marks the 16th straight semester Temple student-athletes have earned over a 3.10 combined GPA, while being enrolled in over 100 different academic majors/programs. It is also the 22nd straight semester grade point average above a 3.00.
"I want to congratulate our student-athletes for their hard work and tremendous success in the classroom last fall," said Temple University Vice President and Director of Athletics Arthur Johnson. "I also want to commend Tara Evans, who leads the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student Athletes. With support from the Office of the Provost, she and her talented team have been instrumental in providing the right environment for our student-athletes to continue thriving in the classroom."
Sixteen of Temple's 19 varsity sports posted a combined semester GPA above a 3.00 led by women's gymnastics, men's tennis, and women's rowing all of which earned combined GPAs of a 3.5 or greater, while 11 programs compiled a 3.30 or above semester GPA.
Seventeen of 19 Temple teams have cumulative grade point averages over 3.00 with women's gymnastics (3.64) and women's field hockey (3.61) topping the list.
An amazing 71.1 percent of Temple's student-athletes earned a 3.0 grade point averages in the fall semester, marking the 10th consecutive semester above 65 percent. Seven programs – men's cross country, women's fencing, field hockey, women's gymnastics, women's lacrosse and men's tennis- had 85% or more of their roster earn a semester GPA of 3.0 or above.
