Spirit Squad to Host Send Off Event Before 2023 College National Championship
1.5.23 | Cheerleading, Diamond Gems
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple spirit squad, comprised of the Diamond Gems dance team and the cheerleaders are set to host a sendoff event on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. in McGonigle Hall in preparation for their trip to the 2023 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship from Jan. 13-15.
The event, which will give both spirit squad teams the opportunity to showcase their upcoming routines will be open to family, friends, student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans, with free admission for all.
Just under a week later, the Cherry and White will travel to the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Fl., to kick off three days of competition.
Last year, the Owls found immense success, with the cheerleaders earning a silver medal in the Division IA All Girl Game Day routine category, falling just 0.100 points short of a National Championship, behind Mississippi. In addition, the cheerleaders made it to the finals of the traditional routine category for the first time in 10 years, placing sixth.
The Diamond Gems followed suit and found success, earning the program's first ever top-five finish in the Division IA Game Day routine category, placing fifth while also making it to the finals of the Hip-Hop routine category.
