Spirit Squad to Host Send Off Event Before 2024 College National Championship

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple spirit squad, comprised of the Diamond Gems dance team and the cheerleaders are set to host a sendoff event on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. in McGonigle Hall in preparation for their trip to the 2024 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship from Jan. 12-14 in Orlando, Fl.
The event, which will give both spirit squad teams the opportunity to showcase their upcoming routines, will be open to family, friends, student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans, with free admission for all. Athletics will also host a Bus Sendoff on Wednesday, January 10th at 3:45 PM in front of the Liacouras Center as they leave for Nationals.
Last year, the Owls found immense success, with the cheerleaders earning third-place finish in the Cheer Game Day Routine category, along with a ninth-place finish in the Dance Game Day Routine category from the Diamond Gems. Their third-place finish in the Cheer Game Day Routine category led the Owls to be named the only program in the country to have finished in the top five of this category every year since the category's inception six years ago.
The Diamond Gems found their fifth top 10 finish in this the Dance Game Day Routine Category with their ninth place finish. In addition to their strong showing in the Dance Game Day Routine category, the Cherry and White competed in the Dance Hip-Hop Routine category, finishing in tenth place, just missing the finals by 0.14 points behind Florida State.
