Lacrosse Announces 2023 Schedule
1.6.23 | Women's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA – Following a successful 2022 campaign, Temple lacrosse Head Coach Bonnie Rosen announced the teams schedule for another year of competitive action. The 2023 slate, which is comprised of 16 competitions will feature an even home and away split, with eight home games and eight away games.
"The excitement is building quickly as we approach the 2023 season," Head Coach Bonnie Rosen said. "We have had great success the past two years and the game schedule was designed to build upon that success! This year's schedule will challenge us both at home and on the road, allow us to test ourselves against both familiar and unfamiliar opponents, and give us the opportunity to set our sights on the American Athletic Championships as well as a bid to the NCAA Tournament."
The Owls, who posted an 11-6 record last year, reached a national ranking as high as No. 18 throughout their 2022 campaign. As they enter the 2023 season, they remain a force to be reckoned with, being one of seven teams to receive votes in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Preseason Top 20 rankings.
Schedule
The Owls will open 2023 at Howarth Field, welcoming reigning America East Champions, Vermont on Feb. 20. The matchup between the Owls and the Catamounts will serve as the first time the teams have met in program history.
Just two days later the Cherry and White will hit the road for the start of a three-game road stretch, first traveling to Columbus, OH., to face off against Ohio State on Feb. 12, followed by George Washington on Feb. 18 and Delaware on Feb. 22.
The Cherry and White will return to North Broad for two home games, first welcoming the 2022 Ivy League Champions, Princeton on Feb. 25 and city rival, Saint Joseph's on Mar. 4.
A trip to Poughkeepsie, NY, will follow just four days later, as the Owls face Marist on Mar. 8, before returning home to take on UMBC on Mar. 11. One week later, Temple will travel North to New Haven, Conn., for a matchup against the Yale on Mar. 18.
Returning to the City of Brotherly Love on Mar. 25, the Owls will open conference competition against James Madison University, a new affiliate of the conference as of 2023.
As the Cherry and White close out the month of March, conference competition will continue with a road test against Cincinnati on Apr. 1, and a home match against Florida on Apr. 8.
Temple will close out non-conference play as they host Drexel on Mar. 12, before resuming conference competition just three days later with a trip to Norfolk, Va., to take on Old Dominion.
With only two games remaining in regular season play, the Owls will host ECU on Apr. 22 for senior day, before traveling to Nashville, Tenn., to take on Vanderbilt on Apr. 29 to close out the regular season.
The American Athletic Conference Championship is set for May 4 and 6, and will be hosted by Temple University at Howarth Field.
