Owls Earn Two First-Place Finishes at Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Temple Men's Crew opened their fall season on Sunday at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River. The Owls had six boats in the regatta, two earning first place finishes. Sunday marked new Head Coach Brendan Cunningham's first regatta as the Temple head coach.

RACE RESULTS

>In the Pairs event, the duo of Adam Oliver and Kenneth Raynor took first place with a time of 14:42.320. Oliver and Raynor have now won this event at the Navy Day Regatta in consecutive years.
>The JV Eight A took home first place with a time of 13:07.080.
>The Varsity Eight A finished in sixth place behind Penn, Navy, La Salle, and Drexel with a final time of 12:21.580
>The Varsity Eight B finished 12th with a time of 12:38.930.
>In the Pairs event, the duo of Kevin Harvell and Stephen Gloyd took second place with a time of 15:21.310.
>The JV Eight B placed 5th with a time of 13:20.190, finishing behind Drexel, St. Joseph's and Bucknell.

NEXT UP
Temple will be racing in the Head of Charles Regatta on October 22nd on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.

FROM THE COACH
"It's the first race of the fall, and the first race of the year," said Cunningham. This gives us an idea of where we are right now. I'm encouraged by how the team did today. I'd also like to say thank you to the parents, alums and Temple fans that came out to support us on race day. Go Owls!"
