Volleyball Completes Sunday Match at Rice

HOUSTON, Texas – The Temple Owls fell to 15-9 overall and 5-7 in the American Athletic Conference on Sunday against the Rice Owls in three sets, 25-8, 25-14, 25-14. Rice improves to 15-7 overall and 9-3 in conference play behind Danyle Courtney's match-high 15 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rice Owls would hit .351 in the match compared to Temple's .027.
- The three-set match featured six ties and one lead change.
- Rice's Sahara Maruska hit a match-best .478 with all players over 10 or total attacks.
- Temple outside hitter Taylor Davenport led the team with seven kills.
SET 1 (TU 8, RICE 25)
- Rice hit .400 in the set, led by Courtley with six kills and five from Maruska. Both Rice players hit a set-best .455
- With 29 total digs, Rice held Temple to a .000 hitting percentage in set one.
SET 2 (TU 14, UNT 25)
- With the score, 7-4, in favor of Rice, the home team went on to 5-1 (12-5) run to extend its lead to seven points as it got a kill each from Maruske and Emilia Weske.
- Courtley added six more kills with a .600 hitting percentage in set two.
SET 3 (TU 14, UNT 25)
- The Cherry and White got off to impressive start in set three, taking a three-point lead (5-2), their largest of set three, by getting a pair Olivia Vance six kills on the day.
- Temple's lead didn't last long as Rice went on a 10-4 as it got four kills from Maruske in that span.
- Rice hit .351 as a team in the set victory as Maruske hit a set-best .556.
