Owls in the NFL: Week 8

 PHILADELPHIA — The NFL season is about halfway through after Week 8, so let's take a look at how some of our former Owls' performed this week. 

On Thursday Night, Dion Dawkins (2013-16), Tyler Matakevich (2012-15), and the Buffalo Bills defeated Todd Bowles (1982-85) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 24-18. The Bills' offense was able to gain over 400 yards and over 30 minutes of possession. Matakevich continued his excellent work on special teams. 

Haason Reddick (2013-16) and the Philadelphia Eagles beat NFC East division rivals, the Washington Commanders, 38-31, earning the best record in the NFL at 7-1. Reddick recorded three tackles, one sack, and two quarterback hits. His sack came on the Commanders' final play securing the Eagles victory.

Keith Kirkwood (2014-17) and the New Orleans Saints beat former Owl, Jacob Martin (2014-17) and the Indianapolis Colts, 38-27. Martin recorded one tackle in the loss. 

Brandon McManus (2009-12), Christian Braswell (2018-20), and the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 20-10. McManus helped carry his team to victory by scoring 12 points (4 FGs), including a long of 51-yards. He topped the 1,000 career point mark and now ranks 6th among active players and 64th all-time in NFL record books.

Sam Franklin (2016-19) and the Carolina Panthers earned their first win of the season, as they beat the Houston Texans, 15-13. Franklin recorded two tackles in the win. 

Rock Ya-Sin (2018) and the Baltimore Ravens beat the Arizona Cardinals, 31-24. 

P.J. Walker (2013-16) and the Cleveland Browns lost to the Seattle Seahawks, 24-20. Walker completed 15 of his 31 attempts, passing for a season-high 248 yards, while also throwing his first touchdown of the season. He also rushed six times for 27 yards. 

Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20) and the Atlanta Falcons lost to the Tennessee Titans, 28-23. Ebiketie recorded two tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and one quarterback hit. 

Quincy Roche signed to Vikings practice squad this week.
