Volleyball Sweeps UAB On Senior Day

Vance earns her 1000th-career kill
PHILADELPHIA – Led by a match-high 14 kills from senior Taylor Davenport, the Temple Owls volleyball team earned its eighth sweep of the season on Senior Day during Saturday's 25-20, 25-19, 25-12 win over the University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers.
With the win Temple moves to 17-11 overall and 7-9 in American Athletic Conference play while UAB falls to 4-25 overall and 2-15 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Graduate transfer Olivia Vance picked up her 1000th-career kill on Saturday in set two. The Saline, Mich. native had nine kills in the win.
- Davenport hit .290 with a match-high 31 total attacks.
- The Temple freshman combination of Lexi Yoza and Ava Blaszciek combined for 36 assists in the win, while each of the two setters had 18 apiece.
- Prolic had a match-high five services aces, giving her nine in the two-match series.
- Mia Reese led the Blazers with 11 kills on a .294 hitting percentage.
SET 1 (TEM 25, UAB 20)
- Temple led throughout the first set, but it used a 7-0 run to start the match, getting three service aces from Jelena Prolic and a pair of kills from Jaaliyah Evans.
- Down by five points (22-16), UAB scored four straight points to cut the lead to 22-20, but Vance and Davenport sealed the set win with a pair of kills.
- Davenport and Vance came out on fire, combining for 12 kills. Vance had five kills in the set, hitting .290, while Davenport led all hitters in the set with seven kills, hitting .286.
SET 2 (TEM 25, UAB 19)
- Much like set one, Temple would dominate the second set.
- Junior Chelci Banks was the hot hand for the Cherry and White as she had four kills with a .429 hitting percentage. Avery Luoma, Olivia Vance, and Taylor Davenport had three kills apiece with Luoma hitting .750.
- Reese led the set with six kills, hitting .857.
SET 3 (TEM 25, UAB 15)
- With Owls leading 2-1, Vance's serve gave Temple seven straight points while picking up a pair of service aces.
- Temple held the Blazers to a .000 percentage in set three, while hitting .300 as a team.
- Davenport led all players in the set with four kills and a .667 percentage.
