PHILADELPHIA - On Friday, November 3rd, Temple Athletics hosted its third Temple Experience with a record number of attendees. The event aims to foster a connection with students in grades 5-8 in the community by holding an engaging learning experience about the university and its athletics.
Â
Attendance exploded this year with 426 participants coming from nine schools in the area. That list included Paul L. Dunbar School, Northeast Community Propel Academy, Thurgood Marshall School, Robert B. Pollock School, Bache-Martin Middle School, Davis Family School, Yorkship Family School, Feltonville School of Arts and Sciences, and Tanner Duckrey School. Previous Temple Experience days took place in November 2022 and March 2023, which hosted 72 and 93 participants respectively.
Â
Students were given a tour of the campus, stopping at locations such as Pearson-McGonigle Hall, the Student Activities Center, and the IDEAL office in Tuttleman Learning Center. The day culminated with the students attending Temple Women's Volleyball's School Day Game, which had one of the highest attendance marks of the season.
Â
"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Gabi Hughes and Tia Withers for their exceptional dedication and tireless efforts in planning and coordinating our Temple Experience program. Their commitment to providing students with a meaningful and enriching visit is truly commendable," said Prince Moody, Associate Athletics Director.
Â
"I also want to express my deep appreciation to our phenomenal partners in Admissions, specifically the Owl Ambassadors, and the School of Education, whose students served as outstanding tour guides, enhancing the overall experience for our visitors. A special thank you to AD Johnson and the Athletic Staff for their unwavering support and teamwork, which have made this program a resounding success."
