Miller Scores 28 in Win Against UAlbany

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Hysier Miller scored a game-high 28 as the Temple University men's basketball team held off a late rally by the UAlbany Great Danes, 78-73 in the NABC Brooklyn Showcase on Sunday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Early on, Miller and Riley led the offense with Miller netting the first six points and Riley the next four as the Owls took a 10-6 lead three and a half minutes in. UAlbany stayed in the contest with the rebounding edge as the score was knotted at 15-15 with 10:30 remaining.
TU started to pull away in the final eight minutes of the frame. With the score tied at 19-19, Temple scored 18 of the next 28 points before eventually taking a 37-29 lead into intermission. Miller led the offense with 18. The Owls defense was also strong, forcing 13 first half turnovers from UAlbany, scoring 14 off the miscues.
The Great Danes came out of halftime with the early push, but Temple was up to the task, as Riley scored seven points in the opening five minutes of the stanza as TU expanded the lead to 50-41 at the 14:56 mark.
Despite a handful of pushes by UAlbany, including one where it cut the gap to 59-55 with just less than nine minutes left and a last gasp in the waning seconds, Temple never relinquished the lead.
UP NEXT
The Owls are off until December 16 when they travel to Richmond, Va. to take on the Virginia Commonwealth Rams. Tipoff from the Siegel Center is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
