Shallow Named AAC Defensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Temple lacrosse defender Katie Shallow was tabbed American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
In the Owls 1-1 week, which included a 10-5 win over reigning America East Champions, Vermont and a 10-9 loss to Ohio State (receiving votes), Katie Shallow anchored an Owl defense that combined for a 9.5 goals allowed average. The junior combined for nine groundballs and six caused turnovers, which included an eight-ground ball and five caused turnover performance against Ohio State. Her eight groundballs against the Buckeyes served as a single game career-best, and her five caused turnovers tied for a career best. With eight ground balls, Shallow ties for the single-game groundball record in the American Athletic Conference.
The Cherry and White will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 as they travel to Washington D.C., to face off against George Washington. First draw is set for 1 p.m.
