Lacrosse Set to Travel to George Washington for Second Road Test

PHILADELPHIA – Temple lacrosse (1-1) is set to travel to Washington, D.C., to face off against George Washington (0-1) in their second road test of the year. First draw is set for 1 p.m. Due to a scheduling conflict, the game will not be livestreamed.

- The Owls opened the 2023 season with a two-game week, defeating Vermont 10-5, before falling in a 10-9 nailbiter to Ohio State.
- Katie Shallow led the way for the Owls, being tabbed AAC Defensive Player of the Week after combining for nine ground balls and six caused turnovers. This performance included an eight groundball, five caused turnover day at Ohio State, which proved to be a single game career-best in ground balls, while also tying the conference ground ball record.
- With 19 goals scored, the Cherry and White found contributions from nine different student-athletes, showcasing their depth on the offensive end of the field between both matchups.
- Belle Mastropietro leads the Owls in the point column, with seven points on five goals and two assists.
- Alongside Mastropietro is Julie Schickling, who has netted five goals for the Owls. Four of those finishes came in the Ohio State matchup, which proved to be a single game career best for the senior attacker.
- Junior Camryn Zavacky has been a valuable offensive piece, dishing out three helpers to lead the team the assist category.
- Sophomore Taylor Grollman made her collegiate debut, starting in both competitions for the Owls in the two-game week. The Severn, Md., native recorded a career high eight saves in the 10-5 win over Vermont for a .615 save percentage, followed by six saves against Ohio State, for a cumulative save percentage of .483 on the week.
- The Owls continued to receive votes in the IWLCA Top 25 Poll, alongside UConn, Ohio State, Towson, and Penn State.
Scouting George Washington
- George Washington opened their 2023 season on Saturday, Feb. 11, falling to UMBC at home, 19-10.
- Whitney Moran and Kerry McKeever, two graduate transfers, had standout performances in their first competition as Colonials. Moran, a transfer from LIU tallied a hattrick, while McKeever, a Gettysburg transfer netted two goals and added an assist.
- Sophomore returner Emily Mowbray followed suit, netting two goals and adding an assist to kick off her sophomore season.
- Sophomore Mia Caro found the start in between the pipes for George Washington, tallying seven saves against the Retrievers, just one save short of tying a career best.
- George Washington entered the season ranked seventh in the Atlantic 10 standings after finishing the 2022 season 5-13 which included a 3-6 conference performance. George Washington advanced to the conference tournament as the No. 6 seed, before ultimately falling to Saint Joseph's, 15-9 in the first round.

- The matchup between the Owls and the Colonials marks the 14th time the teams' have met in program history, with an all-time record of 10-3. Temple and George Washington last met in 2020, where Temple prevailed, 17-8 in the season opener.
