Men’s Tennis Visits No. 61 Penn for Mid-Week Match Up

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Temple men's tennis (16-2) will head to Penn's campus to take on the Quakers (6-7) for a match scheduled for Wednesday, March 29 at 4:00 p.m. The Owls are currently on a sixteen-game winning streak which dates back to the third match of the year against Monmouth on Feb. 4, 2023.
 
THE OWLS:
  • Temple is most recently coming off a successful weekend securing victories over Hampton on Saturday, March 25 and the George Mason Patriots on Sunday, March 26. Both matches ended with a 7-0 score in favor of the Owls.
  • Recently, the Owls have been fluctuating between the duos of Marin Delmas/Gregoire Barety and Thibault Frumholz/Leo Raquin in the top spot of doubles play. Both teams have had success in that spot. Delmas/Barety is 6-4 from the first spot this spring while Thibault/Raquin is a perfect 7-0.
  • No matter the order of the double's lineup, Hussein El Tawil and Louis Gorregues have held down the third position all spring with a 11-1 record.  
  • Temple's Louis Gorregues picked up his tenth victory of the spring against George Mason on Sunday afternoon. He now has 10-3 singles record this spring. Of the 10 wins, nine have come in the third position.
 
SCOUTING PENN:
  • The Quakers are 2-3 in their last five. They most recently beat Charlotte 5-2 on Sunday afternoon, March 26, but suffered losses to No. 54 Wisconsin, No. 34 UCLA and No. 45 Pepperdine since March 5.
  • Penn is led by No. 6 Edoardo Graziani and Kevin Zhu who, as of March 19, had a 6-0 record in the first position of doubles for the Quakers.
  • Individually, Manfredi Graziani leads Penn in singles' wins with an 8-2 record this spring through March 19. He is 2-0 from the fourth position and 6-2 from the fifth.
  • Last season, the Quakers visited Temple's campus for a match on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022. Penn won 6-1. Temple's lone point came from Louis Gorregues in the fifth position defeating Penn's Zach Smith in three sets.
