Women’s Basketball Signs Vanderbilt Graduate Transfer Demi Washington
4.17.23 | Women's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's basketball head coach Diane Richardson announced that Vanderbilt guard Demi Washington has signed an aid agreement to attend Temple University. Washington played in 95 games and started 41 in the last four seasons for the Commodores. She will be immediately eligible to play for Temple.
"We are delighted to add grad transfer guard, Demi Washington," Richardson said. "Demi brings another dimension to our roster. She is a big guard with length, and she has the ability to rebound and score. Her skills will also enable us to apply heavy defensive pressure on opponents. She has competed at a very high level and brings that experience to North Broad Street."
Washington joined the Commodores in 2019. She appeared in all but one game in the 2019-20, 2021-22, and 2022-23 seasons. She sat out during the 2020-21 season due to Covid-19 protocols. A native of Wake Forest, N.C., Washington has averaged 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest in her career. In her senior season, the guard shot .431 from the field and was second on the team from beyond the arc, hitting .389 of her attempts. Washington was also highly accomplished in the classroom, earning SEC Academic Honor Roll in three of her four seasons.
