Three Owls Earn AAC Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – After posting an 11-7 win over East Carolina on Saturday, Temple lacrosse (7-8, 2-3 AAC) earned three of the five possible major weekly honors from the conference in Belle Mastropietro, Taylor Grollman and Katie Shallow.
Mastropietro was tabbed Midfielder of the Week after leading the scoring efforts for the Cherry and White. The senior posted five points on four goals and one assist while adding four draw controls and one ground ball. Mastropietro now advances to 56 points on 37 goals and 19 assists.
Grollman picked up the first weekly honor of her career, being named Goalkeeper of the Week. The Severn, Md., native posted a career-best 14 saves for a .667 save percentage in the 11-7 victory, advancing to 109 saves on the season.
Shallow joined the two with another major award, being named Defensive Player of the Week. The junior spearheaded the defensive efforts, disrupting the East Carolina offense by playing lock down defense on the Pirates leading scorer, Frances Kimmel. Shallow held Kimmel to just one point, the least of any team ECU has faced this year. In addition, Shallow grabbed three draw controls and three groundballs while recording two caused turnovers.
The Owls will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 29 to face off against Vanderbilt in their final regular season competition of 2023. Game time is set for 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
