Wei, Uchijima Fall in NCAA Tournament Round of 32
5.23.23 | Women's Tennis
ORLANDO, Fla. - Following a nearly four-hour weather delay at the USTA Tennis Center, Temple women's tennis doubles pair Jamie Wei and Maiko Uchijima fell 6-1, 6-1 in the Round of 32 at the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament Tuesday night.
It was a rematch of the 2022 ITA Fall National Championship as the doubles pair faced off against Michigan doubles pair of Jaedan Brown and Kari Miller, who defeated the Owls 6-3, 6-4 in San Diego, Calif. after an incredible fall season. The No. 2 seeded pair was too much for Wei and Uchijima, with the Wolverines earning a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Wei and Uchijima's appearance marked the first Temple representation in the women's tennis NCAA Tournament since the 2008 women's team qualified for the team championship.
