Watchlist Story

Hollin, Kilian, and Sweeney Named to AAC 2023 Watch-List

8.14.23 | Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA- Phoebe Hollin, Fiona Kilian, and Nicole Sweeney were selected as the three Temple players on the AAC's Preseason Watch List. Instead of the Preseason All-Conference Team that was selected by conference coaches in prior years, the AAC coaches nominated three players from each roster with highly anticipated success to be included on the conference watchlist.

Phoebe Hollin, a junior native of Oldham, England, is looking to continue building on her 2022 season, where she led the team in assists, through aiding three goals. In both 2022 and 2021, Hollin started on defense for 15 games.

Fiona Kilian, a sophomore midfielder, played her freshman season at Xavier University. A native of Levittown, N.Y., Kilian saw great success within her first year on collegiate pitch. Her team was named BIG EAST Championship finalists and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Nicole Sweeney, a graduate student, looks to build on her collegiate career at Santa Clara University, where she appeared in 29 total games. As a forward, Sweeney helped her team become the WCC Champions and reach the NCAA D1 National Championship, NCAA Sweet 16, and College Cup.

South Florida secured the first-place spot in the conference standings, receiving 61 points, which included eleven of twelve first place votes from the league coaches. UAB (40) was tabbed as the runner-up, followed by Florida Atlantic (39) in third place. East Carolina (35) landed fourth place, followed by Charlotte (29) and Temple (12) to round out the preseason standings.

The Owls will open their season on Thursday, Aug. 17 against William and Mary. Attendance to the Temple Sports Complex is free to all fans. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
