Football Opens Season Against Akron

Temple opens the 2023 season against Akron with an ESPN+ broadcast on Saturday, September 2 at 2 p.m. The game will mark the beginning of Stan Drayton's second year as Temple's head coach.

The last time the Owls took on the Zips was in 2021, when Temple defeated Akron 45-24 in Week 2 at InfoCision Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The Owls and Zips have played each other 22 times, with Temple holding a 15-7 advantage in the all-time series.

The last time Temple and Akron played at Lincoln Financial Field was back in 2010. The Owls defeated the Zips 30-0 behind a strong performance from running back duo Bernard Pierce and Matt Brown.
