Women's Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule
9.1.23 | Women's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's basketball has released its 2023-24 non-conference schedule with the Owls playing seven home games at the Liacouras Center.
The home slate is headlined by Northwestern coming to Philadelphia on Dec. 21, the first time Temple has hosted a Big Ten foe since 2017. The Owls' other home opponents consist of the season opener against Delaware State (Nov. 6), BIG EAST opponent Georgetown on Nov. 9, and Bucknell (Nov. 11). Big 5 rivals Saint Joseph's and Penn will visit on November 22 and December 10, respectively, as well as Delaware on December 14.
On the road, the Cherry & White will face an exciting slate. Temple will begin with trips to a pair of 2023 NCAA tournament teams in the SEC's Ole Miss on Nov. 15 and Villanova on Nov. 19. On December 1 and 2, the Owls will compete in the Briann January Classic where the Owls will play alongside Pacific, Xavier, and host Arizona state. The Cherey & White will face the Sun Devils on the 1st and play a second match on 2nd with the opponent TBD. Temple will round out the road portion of the schedule with La Salle on December 17.
"I'm thrilled about this year's schedule. It gives our team many opportunities to play against NCAA tournament teams as well as the challenging, Big 5 schools." Head Coach Diane Richardson said. "This schedule will prepare us for a tough conference run."
Earlier this year, the American Athletic Conference announced the women's basketball scheduling model and pairings for the 2023-24 season.
In the 18-game league schedule, each team will play five of its 13 opponents twice and eight opponents once each - four at home and four away. Temple's 2023-24 home schedule features Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, North Texas, South Florida, Tulane, Tulsa, UTSA, and Wichita State. The Owls will play UAB, ECU, Rice, and SMU on the road only.
Season tickets deposits can be made by calling the Temple Ticket Sales Office at 215-204-TIXX (8499) or by visiting Owlstix.com.
The American Athletic Conference schedule is expected to be announced in September.
