Women's Soccer Defeats UPenn on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (2-5-3) recorded a 2-1 win against the UPenn Quakers at home Sunday afternoon. This marked the second win for the Owls this season.
 
How it Happened  
- The game started at a steady pace, with both sides taking turns in their offensive halves.  
- Jillian Allgood kicked her first two shots of the season and Taylor Vecchione made five saves, but the game would sit scoreless at the half.
- The second half started off strong for the Owls, with three shots coming from Sumaya Togba, Jessica Carrieri, and Alexa Swetz within the first ten minutes.  
Beky Myers scored a goal for the Owls off of a penalty kick at the 63-minute mark.
- Yazmeen Smith scored her first career goal for Temple by shooting a beemer to the top left corner to give the Owls a 2-0 edge.  
- UPenn scored a goal in the last ten minutes of the game to cut Temple's lead. 
- Tamsin Bynoe made six saves for the Cherry and White.  

 Game Notes 
- Myers recorded her third goal for the Owls this season. 
- Eliza David and Allgood logged their first starts of the season.  
- The Owls shot eight times throughout the second half.
- There were three yellow cards issued throughout the match.  

Up Next 
The Cherry and White will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to play against FAU on Thursday. The Owls will face the Florida Owls at 7 p.m. The match will stream on ESPN+.
