Temple Football Alum Vince “Vinnie” Mini Passes Away

PHILADELPHIA — Temple Football alum Vince "Vinnie" Mini ('83) passed away at his home on Monday, September 5.
Mini, a native of Parsippany, N.J., graduated from Temple in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Corrections. A captain his senior year and an anchor on Temple's defensive line, Mini saw playing time under head coach Wayne Hardin during all four of his years as an Owl. He finished his collegiate career with 161 total tackles, 64 of which were solo tackles. Mini's 16 career sacks is tied for 10th all time on the all-time Temple records.
In 1982, Mini was awarded with three Temple Football awards. He received the Owl award for exemplifying the highest qualities of sportsmanship and loyalty on and off the field, Outstanding Student-Athlete, and the Temple Football Conditioning Program award.
After a stint in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles as a defensive lineman, Mini served as a corrections officer for nearly 30 years. In 1983, Mini was signed by the USFL Philadelphia Stars.
From 1996 on, he owned and operated Mini's House of Pain in El Dorado County, California as a strength and conditioning coach. Throughout the years, Mini also shared inspiring thoughts with others as a motivational speaker.
