Seven Owls Selected for Postseason Showcases

PHILADELPHIA – Seven Temple Owls have been selected by various outlets to participate in postseason senior showcase events. Linebacker Jordan Magee was invited to the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine but will not participate due to late-season surgery. Similarly, linebacker Yvandy Rigby was asked to play in the Tropical Bowl but will not participate. Defensive lineman Jerquavion Mahone and tight end David Martin-Robinson was selected for the Hula Bowl; while safety Tywan Francis, linebacker Layton Jordan, and wide receiver Amad Anderson Jr. will play in the Tropical Bowl.
 
"I'm so excited that Jordan, Yvandy, DMR, Tywan and Layton will have a chance to participate in these events," said Temple head coach Stan Drayton. "I'm also proud of our other seniors who will have the chance to showcase their abilities, along with these five, in front of NFL scouts at our annual Pro Day in March. This group of seniors have been through a lot. They were part of the Covid class, have been through a couple of coaching changes, and have proven that nothing can get in the way of chasing their goals."
 
Magee led Temple this season with 80 tackles and 14 tackles for loss. He ranked second in the AAC with 1.39 tackles for loss per game and third in the AAC with 7.89 tackles per game. The Dover, Del., native was a two-time team captain and earned All-AAC and All-ECAC recognition. It is still unknown whether Magee with attend the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl and NFL Combine as he will be unable to participate due to a bicep injury.
 
Rigby has been among the Owls leading tacklers for the last three seasons, surpassing the 200-plateau in career stops. In 2023 he was leading all FBS players in tackles in mid-September before and injury sidelined him for four games. The Turks and Caicos native, who played his high school football in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., finished third in the AAC with 8.4 tackles per game.
 
Martin-Robinson led the way for Temple's offense, earning a spot on the All-AAC and All-ECAC teams. He was a staple for the Owls' offense this season, tallying 40 receptions and 537 receiving yards. The Landisville, Pa., native reached the 1,000-yard mark in receiving for his career, becoming just the third Temple tight end to accomplish the feat.

Mahone played in 11 games for the Owls in 2023 making 10 starts and collecting a career-best 26 tackles. In three seasons at Temple, the Jordan City, Ga., native played in 35 of 36 possible games with 27 starts, posting 76 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, and 3.0 sacks.
 
Mahone and Martin-Robinson will play in the 2024 Caribe Royale Orlando Hula Bowl on January 13, in Orlando, Fla.
 
Francis, a New Orleans, La., native, joined the Owls as a transfer prior to the 2023 season and made an immediate impact in the secondary. He totaled 78 tackles and two interceptions across 11 games played earning a spot on the All-ECAC squad. Francis ranked ninth in the AAC with 7.09 tackles per game.
 
Jordan entered the 2023 season on the Nagurski Trophy and Bednarik Award Watch Lists. The McKeesport, Pa., native had a career-year in 2022 with 9.0 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss. He finished his Temple career among the school's all-time leaders in both sacks (13.5) and TFLs (28.5).
 
Anderson played three seasons at Temple after three years at Purdue. In just his three seasons, he climbed the ranks finishing in the top 20 all-time at Temple in receptions (102) and receiving yards (1,385). Add in his numbers from Purdue and the Staten Island, N.Y. native finished his collegiate career with 136 catches for 1,747 yards and 12 touchdowns. He closed out his career with his best game recording 169 yards and two touchdowns against Memphis on November 24.

Anderson, Francis and Jordan will play in the 2024 Trillion Tropical Bowl on January 20, in Orlando, Fla.
