Owls in the NFL - Week 7
10.22.24 | Football
We're now close to the halfway point of the season, and what came with it was some long-awaited breaking news as well as some impressive performances from our Owls. Let's check in with the latest on Temple Owls in the NFL.
Brandon McManus (2009-12) was perfect in his season debut with the Packers. The 11-year veteran who signed with Green Bay just four days prior to Sunday's game nailed all three of his extra point attempts and netted a game-winning 45-yard field goal to lift the Packers over the Texans 24-22 at Lambeau Field.
Haason Reddick (2013-16) will report to the New York Jets this week after reaching a short-term contract agreement. The two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher is likely to play his first game of the season next week in Foxborough against the New England Patriots.
Buffalo's Ray Davis (2019-20) scored his first touchdown of the season on a 16-yard run in the Bills blowout win over the Tennessee Titans. Davis was one of four different Bills who scored a touchdown on Sunday. Left tackle Dion Dawkins (2013-16) was one of the leaders on the offensive line who only allowed one sack throughout the game. The Bills high-scoring game was kicked off by an 11-yard touchdown run in the second quarter where Dawkins got up to the second level to help clear a path for James Cook to scamper into the end zone. Tennessee's David Martin Robinson (2018-23) was inactive in the Titans loss to the Bills.
Atlanta's Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20) finished Sunday's game with three solo tackles and one assisted tackle against the Seattle Seahawks. Ebiketie's four tackles is the most single game tackles he's had since week 1.
After getting some regular season reps at last week, Detroit's Michael Niese (2016-21) was active as the backup center in Sunday's divisional match-up against the Minnesota Vikings. The Lions gave the Vikings their first loss of the season in a nail biting 31-29 win on the road.
San Francisco's Rock Ya-Sin (2015-18) was active in Sunday's Super Bowl rematch, but the sixth-year corner back didn't get any reps on defense in the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Five former Owls are still nursing injuries at the season's midway point. Jets' tight end Kenny Yeboah (2016-19) remains on injury reserve dealing with a groin injury. Carolina's Sam Franklin Jr. (2016-19) is continuing to nurse a foot injury and remains on IR designated for return. Steelers' linebacker Tyler Matakevich (2012-15) remains on IR with a hamstring injury. Matakevich has not yet received a return designation from Pittsburgh and will miss more time. Commanders' linebacker Jordan Magee (2019-23), remains on IR designated to return dealing with a knee injury. Chicago's Jacob Martin (2014-17) remains on IR as he continues to recover from a toe injury.
Chris Myarick (2014-18) was released from the Houston Texans practice squad.
