Men's Tennis Concludes Action at the AAC Individual Championships

HOUSTON - Temple men's tennis team concluded its action at the AAC Individual Championships hosted by Rice University. Martim Marujo reached the singles quarterfinals, while Adam Kresina's run ended in the round of 16. In doubles action, Kresina and Marujo were edged out in the round of 32.

How It Happened

Marujo led Temple's efforts with a standout singles performance, defeating Wichita State University's Alejandro Jacome 6-2, 7-6 (6) and then battled to a win in a tense three-set match against UNC Charlotte's Vasco Prata, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4, to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
Marujo's impressive run ended in the quarterfinals when he fell to Tulsa's Alex Okonkwo in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
In the round of 32, Kresina started strong with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Tulsa's Luc Hoeijmans but was eliminated in the round of 16 by Tulsa's Timothy Carlsson Seger, losing 6-1, 7-5 in a closely contested second set.
In doubles action, Kresina and Marujo partnered but narrowly missed advancing, falling to University Of Alabama, Birmingham's Malige and Valek in a tight 8-7 (4) match.
