Women's Tennis Completes Play at the AAC Individual Championships

HOUSTON – Temple women's tennis team completed play at the AAC Individual Championships hosted by Rice University. Kelly Richter advanced to the round of 16 in singles action while Thamara Frasser Kawaratani was defeated in the round of 32. In doubles play, Marianthi Christoforidou and Kawaratani came up short in the round of 32.

How It Happened

Kelly Richter showcased her skills in the round of 32 by defeating Emily Meyer from Memphis with a solid score of 6-3, 6-2.
She faced a tough challenge in the round of 16 against Ana Naranjo Martinez from Tulane, where she initially took the first set 6-2 but ultimately retired in the third set, trailing 4-0.
Christoforidou and Kawaratani fought hard against Tulane's Leigh Van Zyl and Micah Pierce, reaching a tightly contested 5-5 tie. Despite their strong efforts, they couldn't secure the victory, ultimately being upended, 8-5 .
