Men's Soccer to Face Charlotte in First Round of AAC Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Temple men's soccer team will travel to North Carolina to face the Charlotte 49ers in the first round of the AAC Championships on Friday, Nov. 8. TU is coming off its third win in four matches, most recently defeating Tulsa on the road 1-0 to clinch its first tournament appearance since 2020-21.

Scouting Temple

Flannan Riley is set to start in goal for the Owls. He recorded his third clean sheet of the season during Temple's 0-0 draw against FIU (Oct. 26).
Kemali Green has led Temple's backline as TU's defense has been instrumental to getting them into the conference tournament this season.
Temple's backline has been superb as TU's defense has surrendered only six goals since the start of conference play.

Scouting Charlotte

Charlotte enters the conference championship following a 6-1 setback against FAU on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Elias Arsvoll scored the lone goal for the 49ers as he co-leads the team in points along with Filip Jauk.
Charlotte aims to secure its second consecutive title, a feat last achieved in 2019 when SMU won its third straight championship.
Charlotte's defense has been strong all season, leading the conference with only 12 goals allowed, a mark that also ties for second nationally.
Leonard Stritter is set to be in goal for the 49ers as he leads the NCAA with 10 clean sheets this season.

Series History against Charlotte
This will be the eighth all-time meeting between Temple and Charlotte. They last met earlier this season, with the 49ers defeating the Owls 1-0 on Sept. 21.

Semifinals (Wednesday, Nov. 13):

Winner of FIU vs. FAU vs. #1 Memphis at 8:00 p.m. EST

Championship (Saturday, Nov. 16):

Semifinal winners will compete in the American Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship (time TBD)
