11.30.24 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple University men's basketball team suffered a 83-75 loss at the hands of La Salle on Saturday afternoon inside John Glaser Arena. Sophomore guard Quante Berry registered the first double-double of his career with 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Owls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A pullup jumper by Quante Berry put the Owls in front, 9-5, early on, and the lead remained four at 11-7 before La Salle scored 11 straight to take a 18-11 lead.
  • Berry finished the first half with 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting, but the Explorers held a 42-33 advantage at intermission.
  • The lead for the home team ballooned to 63-48, with Corey McKeithan leading the way.
  • McKeithan had 27 points through the game's first 30 minutes on 10-of-15 shooting.
  • Temple clawed its way back into the game, with a three-point play from freshman Dillon Battie igniting a quick 6-1 spurt.
  • After a three-point play by former Owl Jahlil White, back-to-back buckets from senior Steve Settle III and graduate student Jamal Mashburn Jr. forced La Salle head coach Fran Dunphy to call timeout with the score at 74-67.
  • With the deficit at 77-71, Berry drove the left side and pulled the Owls to within four at 77-73 with less than two minutes left
  • Berry looked to pull the Owls closer in the final minute, but a contested layup was off the mark.
  • The Explorers knocked down two free throws and connected on a fast-break layup to seal the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • La Salle won the battle on the boards, 45-42, including 17 on the offensive end.
  • McKeithan finished with 28 points on 10-of-19 shooting.
  • In addition to Berry's 18, Mashburn Jr. had 15 and Settle III added 13 points.
