Matakevich - Linc

Owls in the NFL - Week 15

12.17.24 | Football

There are just three weeks left in the NFL regular season. In a meeting of Pennsylvania teams, one Owl made his return to The Linc this week, and one rookie had the best game of his young career hitting a new career high. Let's look back at week 15…

Pittsburgh's Tyler Matakevich (2012-15) made his return to Lincoln Financial Field for the Eagles v. Steelers battle for Pennsylvania. Matakevich was active for Sunday's game, but did not record any stats in a 27-13 loss to Philadelphia.

Washington's Jordan Magee (2019-23) came off of a bye week and landed a career-high three tackles in the Commanders 20-19 win over the New Orleans Saints. The Commanders narrow win keeps them in the last Wild Card spot in the NFC with three games left.

Green Bay's Brandon McManus (2009-12) was perfect again in the Packers 30-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks. McManus nailed both extra point attempts and hit a 39-yarder. McManus is now 14-15 in field goal attempts this season since joining the team in October.

New York Jets' Haason Reddick (2013-16) played through an illness on Sunday and recorded one solo tackle in the Jets 32-25 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.  On the offensive side, Kenny Yeboah (2016-19) didn't make any receptions in the game.

Carolina's Sam Franklin (2016-19) recorded one tackle in Sunday's 30-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Franklin now has seven tackles in the season.

Atlanta's Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20) recorded one assisted tackle in the Falcons 15-9 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Harrison Hand (2019) remains on injured reserve for the Falcons and has been ruled out for the season.

Chicago's Jacob Martin (2014-17) did not record any tackles in the Bears' 30-12 loss to their division rival Minnesota Vikings.

San Francisco's Rock Ya-Sin (2015-18) did not play in the 49ers 12-6 loss to their division rival Los Angeles Rams. Ya-Sin will look to get back on the field next week against the Miami Dolphins.

A battle of Owls in the trenches took place on Sunday. Buffalo's Dion Dawkins (2013-16) and the Bills escaped with a win in a nail-biting shootout against Michael Niese (2016-21) and the Detroit Lions. Behind Dawkins, the Bills gained 197 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns including a 41-yard scamper by James Cook through a gap created by Dawkins. Niese did not take the field in this game, and the Bills came away with a 48-42 win on the road.

Tennessee's David Martin-Robinson (2018-23) did not record any catches in this week's 37-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. In what has been a tough season for the Titans, Martin-Robinson will look for more opportunity next week against the Colts.

There are five Owls currently on practice squad rosters:
  • Shaun Bradley (2016-19) - Houston Texans
  • Christian Braswell (2017-20) - Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Matt Hennessy (2016-19) – Atlanta Falcons
  • Keith Kirkwood (2014-17) – Baltimore Ravens
  • William Kwenkeu (2016-21) – Baltimore Ravens
