Shallow Named AAC Defensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Tex. - Senior defender Katie Shallow was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. Belle Mastropietro was also announced to the conference's weekly honor roll.
Shallow anchored Temple's strong defense on Saturday, scooping six ground balls and causing five turnovers in the 11-5 win over Colgate. She helped hold the Raiders to only two goals on nine shot attempts in the second half. It is the third career DPOW award for Shallow, who ranks third in program history with 88 caused turnovers.
Mastropietro stuffed the stat sheet on Saturday, scoring twice, dishing one assist, and adding two ground balls and two caused turnovers. She's now scored multiple goals in eight straight games and sits two goals shy of 150 for her career.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday when they take on Binghamton at Howarth Field at 3:00.
