Schickling, Mastropietro Lead Owls Past East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Belle Mastropietro and Julie Schickling each netted hat tricks and Mackenzie Roth tied Temple's career assist record as the Owls defeated East Carolina 13-8 on Saturday. They are now 2-0 in the American and have won three of their last four.
Mastropietro set a season high with ten draw controls in addition to her three goals, and Roth led the Owls with four total points. Taylor Grollman made nine saves in net to anchor the defense.
How it Happened
> Katie Shallow scored the first goal of the game, netting the third of her career at the 10:49 mark. ECU would respond with a goal three minutes later.
> The Owls took control with a 7-0 run over the next 15 minutes, with five different players contributing goals.Â
> ECU scored twice to stop the run, but Hannah Schrader got one back before the break to make it a 9-3 score.
> Schickling sealed her hat trick 90 seconds into the third quarter to put Temple up seven. The Pirates scored twice in the third and held Temple scoreless for over 12 minutes before Mastropietro secured her third just before the end of the quarter.
> Three straight scores got ECU within three, but Amelia Wright and Maeve Tobin sealed the deal for the Owls with two goals in the final two minutes.
