Owls Dominate Second Half in 12-5 Win Over Old Dominion

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's lacrosse team won their third in a row and improved to 3-0 in the American with a 12-5 win over Old Dominion on Saturday at Howarth Field. Mackenzie Roth made history in the game, breaking Temple's all-time record with her 90th career assist in the third quarter.
The Owls went on an 8-1 run over the final 37 minutes to secure the victory. Roth and Belle Mastropietro each totaled four points in the game while Erin King and Maeve Tobin led the scoring effort with three goals apiece.
How it Happened
> Temple struck first with goals by Amelia Wright and Hannah Schrader in the first five minutes, but ODU responded with three of their own to take the lead by the end of the first quarter.
> Goals by Roth and Julie Schickling put the Owls up 4-3 before the Monarchs tied it again at the 8:19 mark of the second. It would be ODU's last goal until the early stages of the fourth.
> Temple took the lead on Mastropietro's first goal of the game just before halftime.
> The Owls dominated the third quarter, with two goals each from King and Tobin and another from Mastropietro contributing to a 5-0 run out of halftime. Temple's defense held the Monarchs to only one shot and no shots on goal during the quarter.
> ODU got one back in the fourth to break Temple's run. King and Tobin finished things off for the Owls, each securing their hat tricks with goals in the final eight minutes.
