4.6.24 | Women's Lacrosse

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Temple women's lacrosse team got off to a hot start but couldn't hold off No. 12 James Madison on Saturday, falling 14-10 at Sentara Park. The Owls are now 8-4 overall, 3-1 in the American Athletic Conference.

Mackenzie Roth (4 G, 1 A) and Belle Mastropietro (2 G, 3 A) each finished with a team high five points, and Amelia Wright added her third hat trick of the season.

How it Happened
> Roth was on fire from the jump, scoring twice in the first two minutes en route an first quarter hat trick. Wright added another for Temple, giving the Owls a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
> Temple extended the lead to 6-2 early in the second, with Roth scoring her fourth and Julie Schickling adding a free-position goal. The Dukes battled back, going on a 4-0 run over the final 7:37 to tie the score at six heading into halftime.
> JMU extended its run to seven with three straight over the first seven minutes of the third.
> The Owls broke their 15 minute dry spell with a 3-0 run thanks to a pair of goals from Wright and one from Mastropietro to tie it again at nine, but another Dukes goal made it a 10-9 game at the end of three.
> JMU sealed the deal with four consecutive goals to start the final quarter, holding Temple scoreless until Mastropietro found the net with less than a minute on the clock.

Game Notes
> Roth tied her career high with four goals, good for her second hat trick on the year. She's recorded three or more points in all four conference games so far.
