IRVING, Tex. - Temple lacrosse's Katie Shallow and Belle Mastropietro have been named AAC Defensive Player and Midfielder of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference on Monday. They have now combined for seven conference weekly awards this season.
Shallow earned her fourth DPOW honor after tying a season high with seven draw controls along with four ground balls and three caused turnovers in Saturday's 13-9 win over Cincinnati. Her 3.54 caused turnovers per game and 3.77 ground balls per game both lead the American and rank third and fourth nationally, and her 46 total caused turnovers are a new Temple single-season record.Â
Mastropietro earned her third MOW honor after setting a season high with seven points vs. the Bearcats on the strength of three goals and a career high-tying four assists. She is averaging a team high 2.69 goals per game this season, has three hat tricks in five conference games, and has scored two or more goals in 20 consecutive games dating to last season.Â
The Owls will conclude their non-conference and home schedules this Sunday when they take on Ohio State at noon at Howarth Field. The team will be celebrating Senior Day as well as honoring the 40th anniversary of the 1984 National Championship squad.
