No. 14 Temple Set to Face No. 11 UAB in First Round of AAC Tournament on Wednesday

DALLAS, TX - The Temple women's tennis team (9-7) (0-2 AAC) have been ranked No. 14 in the AAC Championship Tournament and are set to face No. 11 UAB (12-10) on Wednesday, April 17, at 2 p.m. The match will be held at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on SMU's campus in Dallas, TX.
THE OWLS
- The Owls enter the tournament after concluding their regular season against two conference opponents. At Tulsa, Temple fell to North Texas, 4-3, and Tulsa, 4-1.
- The Cherry and White won six consecutive matches in the middle of the season, which began when the squad swept Siena College and Villanova University, followed by victories against Norfolk State University, Wagner College, Howard University, and FDU.
- First-year Owl Marianthi Christoforidou has achieved eight singles wins, which is Temple's season high.
- In doubles, Wei and Jessie Zheng uphold the team high, tallying nine victories to conclude the season, which surpasses Wei's initial record of six for most doubles wins in a single season. The duo ends regular season play with a 9-1 dual record.
- Seated at No. 63 in doubles play, Maiko Uchijima and Nanere have also achieved No. 19 and 20 this season. The tandem ends the regular season with a 4-4 dual record.
- As a team, Temple completed an intense fall season, where it played in the Penn Invitational from Sept. 8-10, the Villanova Invitational from Sept. 15-17, the Cissie Leary Invitational from Sept. 22-24, ITA Regionals from Oct. 6-8, the Princeton Invitational from Oct. 13-15, ITA Super-Regionals from Nov. 1-5, and the doubles pair of Nanere and Uchijima earned an invitation to the ITA National Fall Championships where they achieved the Round of 8. In November, the pair was ranked No. 20 in National Doubles Rankings.

- The Blazers enter the match after ending regular season action with a 12-10 record. UAB fell 4-1 to La. Tech in its final match of the season.
- Adela Wasserbauerova holds the Blazers' season singles high with 13.
