Owls Fall to Ohio State on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's lacrosse team fell 10-9 to Ohio State on Sunday at Howarth Field, moving their overall record to 9-5. Belle Mastropietro, Maeve Tobin, and Amelia Wright scored two goals apiece for the Owls, while Katie Shallow led the defense with seven caused turnovers.
The team honored their seven seniors and four graduate students, as well as the 40th anniversary of the 1984 NCAA National Championship squad.
How it Happened
> Temple got off to a hot start, with Julie Schickling scoring on the opening possession and Tobin tacking on another four minutes later. The Buckeyes responded with a 4-1 run to end the quarter, with Amelia Wright getting one back for the Owls.
> Ohio State prevailed 3-1 in a low scoring second quarter. Erin King scored off an assist from Mastropietro for Temple's lone goal of the period.
> The Buckeyes scored first in the third to open up a four goal lead, before three in a row by the Owls cut it back to one by the end of the quarter.
> OSU scored to start the fourth, but back-to-back goals by Mackenzie Roth and Mastropietro tied the score at 9-9 with less than seven minutes to play.
> OSU pulled ahead at the 4:29 mark and kept Temple out of the net for the remainder of the game.
