Women's Tennis Pummels Pirates on Sunday's Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – The Owls jump to a 9-5 record after dominating the Hampton Pirates (8-7), 6-1 on Sunday morning. Before the match, Temple honored seniors Vineetha Mummadi, Samantha Nanere, Sena Takebe, Evie Wei, and Miu Yabata for their dedication to the women's tennis team.

NOTES:
- The Cherry and White won the doubles point from the second and third position. Jessie Zheng/Evie Wei won their seventh match as a duo. This marks Wei's most doubles wins in a single season. The tandem topped Hampton's Masa Mitic/Lucia Jorvin Fernandez, 6-3. Marianthi Christoforidou/Sena Takebe followed suit with the same score as the duo dominated the Pirate pairing of Sofia Sokolova/Meiri Okuwaki.
- The Owls came away with five out of six singles victories against Hampton. The nearly perfect sheet began with a sixth position win as Christoforidou defeated Mitic, 6-2, 6-1. Takebe came next with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Starodubtseva. Samantha Nanere earned Temple's fourth point as she topped Sokolova, 6-4, 6-2. From the fifth position, Vineetha Mummadi secured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Jorvin Fernandez. The final point was achieved by Thamara Frasser Kawaratani as she defeated Kozaki, 6-4, 6-3.
