5.1.24 | Women's Lacrosse
IRVING, Tex. - Six members of the Temple lacrosse team were honored in the AAC's postseason awards, headlined by Midfielder of the Year Belle Mastropietro and Defensive Player of the Year Katie Shallow. Maddie Barber and Taylor Grollman (All-AAC First Team) and Maeve Tobin and Mackenzie Roth (All-AAC Second Team) were also recognized. Both Mastropietro and Shallow were unanimous First Team selections.
Mastropietro earned her third consecutive conference Midfielder of the Year award and was selected to the All-AAC First Team for the fourth year in a row. The grad student leads the Owls and ranks top-six in the American in goals, assists, points, draw controls, and free position goals, and was second in the conference in points per game during AAC play. The three-time Tewaraaton Award nominee and Temple all-time leader in draw controls has also scored multiple goals in every game this season and 23 in a row overall.
Shallow backed up her Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honor with her first career DPOY and second straight First Team selection. She leads the conference and ranks top five nationally in caused turnovers and ground balls, and earlier this year set Temple's all-time single season and career caused turnover record holder. Her 138 career CT's are fourth among active D-I players.
Grollman, who was an Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American, earned her first career all-conference honor. The junior goalie leads the AAC in goals against average and is second in save percentage, ranking Top-20 nationally in both categories. She is also second in the conference in saves per game.
Barber earned her first career First Team selection and third All-AAC honor overall. She ranks second in the conference to Shallow in caused turnovers and ground balls, and is also sixth in draw controls. Her 3.40 ground balls per game are fifth most nationally.
Tobin earned her second career All-AAC Second Team honor. She's totaled 13 goals and seven assists this season, with ten of her 20 points coming in conference action. Roth was an All-AAC selection for the third time in her career, finishing the regular season with 20 goals and 22 assists. She totaled 25 points in AAC play, including three or more in every game.
