Mauro Announces Signing of Maria Wang Martinez

PHILADELPHIA - Head women's tennis coach Steve Mauro announced the signing of Maria Wang Martinez to the 2024 recruiting class.
A sophomore native of Girona, Spain, Martinez joins the nest after attending McNeese State University for the first year of her collegiate career. Throughout her year on the McNeese women's tennis team, Martinez was named to the All-SLC 2nd team, All-Louisiana 2nd team, and SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll. She not only posted the best singles record (17-3), including a 6-1 Southland Conference record, but also achieved an 8-5 record in doubles action, playing all three positions. Her 17 singles victories tabbed her at fourth in single season wins in McNeese history.
Prior to college, Martinez graduated from IOC High School, where she earned 2022 U18 Memorial Trofeu Adolfo Mana Women's single Champion and U18 Circuit Absolut FCT Women's Open Singles Champion in both 2022 and 2021.
