Temple Has Five Players on Athlon Sports All-AAC Team

PHILADELPHIA – Athlon Sports released its annual preseason All-America Athletic Conference teams which included five Temple Football players. Making the publication's 2024 All-AAC teams are: Diwun Black, Wisdom Quarshie, Joquez Smith, Tra Thomas, and Dante Wright.
Earning third team recognition were graduate offensive lineman Wisdom Quarshie and graduate wide receiver Dante Wright. Quarshie started the last 11 games of the 2023 season at right guard for Temple and has been an anchor for the Owls starting 24 games in his career. Wright transferred to Temple in 2023 and was the team's leading wideout with 39 catches for 507 yards and four touchdowns.
Joquez Smith, who started seven games in 2023 as a freshman, earned fourth team honors. The Tampa, Fla., native burst on the scene against Norfolk State in just his first career start with 142 yards rushing, including a 51-yard score, and a 15-yard touchdown reception.
Temple had two defensive ends on the fourth team defense with spots going to redshirt senior Diwun Black and redshirt junior Tra Thomas. Black transferred to Temple from Florida in 2023 and played in 11 games. The Jackson, Miss., native was a strong playmaker recording 29 tackles, 9.5 TFLs, 3,5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Thomas returned from a 2022 injury and played in all 12 games in 2023, including nine starts. He notched a career-best 3.0 sacks to go with 30 tackles and 5.0 TFLs.
