Owls Volleyball Improves to 3-0, Sweeps FDU to Win Cherry and White Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple Owls volleyball team remained perfect to improve to 3-0 as it swept the FDU Knights on Saturday afternoon in McGonigle Hall, 27-25, 25-17, 25-18.

- The Owls hit .333 on the afternoon but were or around .400 throughout the first two sets. Defensively, Temple held the Knights to .110, tallying 10 blocks, including seven solo and six assisted stuffs.
- The freshmen combo of Sydney Jones and Christiana Greene led Temple to victory by combining for 22 kills. Jones added 12 plus three service aces, while Greene earned 10. Greene's output on the day earned herself a .818 hitting percentage, while Jones followed with a .611 mark.
- Junior transfer Alyssa Finister had an exceptional day with seven kills, also hitting in the .800s.
- Following the two-day invitational, the Cherry and White Invitational All-Tournament team was announced as Taylor Davenport earned MVP honors along with teammates freshman Sydney Jones and junior transfer Alyssa Finister earning plaudits. Davenport led all hitters with 46 kills on the weekend, hitting .311 and on the defensive side tallied seven blocks. Jones recorded 33 kills and hit .333 with four service aces. Finister's eye-popping .548 hitting percentage with 20 kills earned her a nod.
