Men's Soccer Gets Upended by Drexel Despite Strong Second Half Effort

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's soccer team fell to the Drexel Dragons 2-0 Tuesday night from Vidas Field in West Philadelphia. With the loss, the Owls dropped to 1-3-2 while Drexel improved to 2-3.
ÂDespite being out-shot 12-3 in the first half, the Owls came out strong in the second frame of the match. TU more than doubled their shot total in the final 45 minutes, firing eight shots toward the net. Additionally, Temple won the corner kick battle in the second half, launching six from the corner. Xavier Rimpel and Alex Champagne led in shots with two each, including a near-miss from Champagne in the 79th minute that hit the top post. In goal, Andrew Kempe hauled in a season-high six saves, facing 20 shots throughout the evening.Â
ÂNext, the Owls will travel to Akron, Ohio to play the Akron Zips on Sept. 14. The action is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
